SUN DAMAGE

What is it?

Sun damage is when the sun prematurely and often aggressively ages the skin, otherwise known as photoaging. UVA can penetrate the skin more deeply as it has a longer wavelength causing premature ageing and the cells to change. UVB has a shorter wavelength and can cause the skin to burn.

How can it present?

Ageing, loss of skin tone, irregular texture, pigmentation, vascular damage, thinning of the skin, cancerous and non-cancerous lesions, redness, sensitivity.

What can I do?

Where SPF 30/50 daily and reapply, cover up, wear a hat, stay out of the sun at peak times. Work with pigment inhibitors in your products to reduce the production of melanin responsible for the change in colour we see on the skin. IPL/Laser and Skin Needling can target very specific areas in the skin, effectively breaking down or shattering the pigmentation below the surface.
